Midwest Beat "Back To Mono" 7"

ORDER HERE
Four song EP 7” by Wisconsin’s best “angry bubblegum” band The Midwest Beat. Obviously the whole EP pays homage to the 60’s vibes fans of the Beat have come to expect, but it’s definitely a unique Midwest Beat release. From the striking cover art, to the beautiful candy blue vinyl, the package is excellent. The Midwest Beat are ever expanding, both in style and delivery, both musically and lyrically.  I’m glad the Midwest Beat once again showed us their extended depth. Great single by a great band. Dennis the Red menace and Red Sonja did it again. Hopefully this record want cause as many death threats as their first record. Red Sonja is truly the most talented guitar player kicking up dust as she stomps around on her Tetris cubes while Dennis follows Reds beautiful guitar lines with some of the most primitive drumming around.
They say that when it's cold in Russia you should throw another Moscow record on the turn table to warm things up. Here's four more songs to get you through those mid season blues. Three original instruMental stompers and one fucking blazer of a shouter.

As the only Russian-themed surf band to play on Tetris cubes, Moscow Moscow Moscow is treading some new water in surf punk. They've managed to fit four of their explosive tunes onto their first seven-inch (2instrumentals and 2 with vocals). Slithering out of Long Beach, CA. comes the most definitive band shapping the world of hardcore, punk, surf, rockabliy and country. Lighting the modern music landscape on fire using the mythology of the Southwest with sounds of hot lust, old time shoot outs, bleached skulls, and modern people movers. Influenced as much by Dangerhouse bands as the Gun Club and Flesh Eaters if these two songs don’t move you you’re probably dead.

ER-15 The Perennials- “My Side of the Mountain” 7”

I had been walking around for months with these songs stuck in my head, when it suddenly struck me: the rest of the world needs to hear this. The Perennials’ (Indianapolis, In) first 7” release on Eradicator Records consists of three garage-rock songs, preformed by members of The Mans, Eric and the Happy Thoughts, and The Half Rats. Chris’s raw singing style, Alex’s thumping bass lines and Ryan’s upbeat drumming is sure to get everyone moving. So sweet and catchy it might just give you a stomach ache!

JERK ALERT "DIRTY SLURS" LP

ER-12 Jerk Alert "Dirty Slurs" LP
this is fantastic, raw punk from Bloomington, Indiana with a slight, wild garage edge of Loli and The Chones mixed with some straight forward hardcore punk… …but the emphasis here is very much on punk. Wild punk with killer female vocals. …. you know what, this is gonna be my record of the year…I know it…damn, it’s only just January so it’s all down hill from here! Seriously, I honestly don’t think anything is gonna top this for me…what is it about Bloomington and this amazing breed of original, raw punk rock? Jerk Alert have that wonderful rabid edge of Bloomington greats…that’s the sound I’d kill for…I’m so overly impressed. I knew this would rule...but Jesus Christ. This record has it all for me…in spades, it’s fun, vicious, imaginative and raw…ask me in December and I’ll bet I stick by this being my record of 2009. - No Front Teeth Review
